This page is in memory of John Mackin

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

John Mackin died sometime around the 23rd of January 1996 in Sydney Australia of a pulmonary embolism. He was 36 years old.

John was a good man and a friend. John, what did you have to die for man.

Death is a pretty senseless thing. I shan't understand it in web page. My goal here is just to remember John and share old times.

I knew John best during my PhD studies at Sydney University. Hey Johnno, remember the iron bar, the manhole cover, the 56lb weight, the fucking lead ingot. And don't forget to SCORE. I think we'd better get reality backed up onto a nine-track tape. Oh shit, the champagne bottle collection. And who can forget your immortal advice: women are bad, stick to drugs.

Here are some of the last usenet postings by John: Usenet postings.

John had many and varied interests: Aleister Crowley and Magick, culinary arts and gastronomy, aviation, pharmacology, poetry to name but a few. Read Andrew Gollan's obituary for John, and some responses to it from the net.

Here are how some of John's friends remember him.

John's funeral was held at the Northern Suburbs crematorium on Thursday 8 February 1996 at 03:00 UTC. Michael Barr-David and Danny Yee have written accounts of it.

John was a free thinker and committed anarchist his .plan file for many years until his death was:

-Paul K Feyerabend "Against Method"

He was a friend and admirer of Mark V. Shaney. Remember when Shaney said: The connotation depends on the beacon, as usual.
